First Responders And Survivors Will Not Attend 9/11 20th Anniversary Ceremony • Hollywood Entertainment News

The 20th Anniversary ceremony of the September 11, 2001 attacks will exclude first responders and survivors as this year’s memorial will be solely dedicated to the victims’ families.

Invitations were sent out to the families of those who were killed during the attacks and the letters specifically stated that survivors and first responders will not be permitted at the 20th anniversary this year. However, this is not the first time organizers have called for the absence of first responders and survivors during the memorial. Within the past few years, they tried to enforce a policy that only limited the ceremony to families.

‘There has been no change from previous years: the annual commemoration has always been focused on those who were killed in the attacks, and their family members are invited to attend with any guests they’d like to bring along. Once a year, every year, for four hours family members and their guests have an opportunity to come to the 9/11 Memorial plaza and mourn together.’  said Alice M. Greenwald, President, and CEO of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

Last week, families didn’t want President Joe Biden to attend the 20th Anniversary event until he disclosed more information regarding the government’s involvement with Saudi Arabia.

‘Twenty years later, there is simply no reason – unmerited claims of “national security” or otherwise – to keep this information secret, We understand President Biden’s desire to mark the solemn occasion of the 20th anniversary at Ground Zero. However, we cannot in good faith, and with veneration to those lost, sick, and injured, welcome the president to our hallowed grounds until he fulfills his commitment,’
