Strictly Come Dancing’s John Whaite created history this year after becoming one half of the first male same-sex couple on the BBC One dance show alongside Johannes Radebe.
The star who first found fame on the Great British Bake Off back in 2013 has impressed both the judges and viewers at home with his impressive moves over recent weeks and the only way is up according to one pal.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Star, Doncaster-born Chrissie revealed that she is backing John all the way to the final.
The Naked, Alone and Racing to Get Home star said: “I’m backing John,” before adding: “John and I get on so well, the first time I landed [Steph’s] Packed Lunch, I made him out of a monkey nut and put him on my Christmas Tree because I love him so much.
“I love John, he’s doing so well, who knew he could dance so well?! I’ve only seen him do his drag act a few times.”
Chrissie continued: “Obviously Anton is a judge now and he’s on Packed Lunch but we love Oti too – I am backing John all the way.
“He deserves it, he’s such a lovely guy, in real life he’s so down to Earth, he’s the most natural funniest guy and he’s actually really good, who knew?
“He’s in his element, I didn’t know how good he would actually be.”
Discussing John’s part in creating history on the show by being in a same-sex couple, Chrissie explained: “He’s always wanted to be on that show and he’s really humble.
“He’s not that confident in real life, he’s quite humble and he’s scared of doing anything but he’s in his element, he was born to be on there.
“He knows he has made history by being a boy-boy partnering but he just wants to make sure that people know that this is a normal thing and shouldn’t be pigeonholed.”
Chrissie is currently appearing on E4’s Naked, Alone and Racing to Get Home, alongside three strangers who all face a tough challenge.
The group are completely stripped of their clothes, money and phones and are tasked with getting to the finish line of a race in order to win cash for charity.
Discussing her nude experience in public, she added: “At first, I felt really insecure because we were trying to get help and stopping people along the way, nobody was stopping because I looked like a crazy woman, I was knocking on peoples doors with my actual vagina out!
“It wasn’t easy at all but when it came to night when your survival skills kick in, if you didn’t find shelter or somewhere to sleep that night, you had to sleep under a tree, there was no other way, I didn’t care about being naked.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight at 6.45pm on BBC One.
