If you haven’t seen Netflix’s Single’s Inferno yet, where have you been? The South Korean dating reality show, which follows nine people glamping on a remote island while trying to find the love of their life, began airing on the streamer in December 2021. Since its premiere, it gained attention fast, with intense drama unfolding over the course of eight episodes and one definite star rising within the group of genetically blessed contestants: Song Jia.
Despite being surrounded by a gaggle of other gorgeous singles looking for love, viewers quickly became infatuated with Jia. With nearly all the men in the Inferno lining up for her attention, the show quickly confirmed what we were all thinking: Jia is the main character. Following the end of the season, she’s now surpassed the three million follower mark on Instagram and her YouTube channel has skyrocketed to over 1.7 million subscribers.
After all this talk, we couldn’t help but binge all of the breakout star’s YouTube videos and we’re ready to run to the department store to try out the scents she’s listed as her favorites in a recommendations video. Buying perfumes without actually sniffing the scents can be a tricky (and quite honestly disastrous) experience, but, honestly, we trust Jia’s judgment. (And who knows, maybe if we spritz on one of these before going out, we’ll have muscly personal trainers lining up for our love, too?)
Anyway, without further ado, here are all the perfumes Jia listed as her favorites in a video from October 2021:
1. Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau De Parfum
Her number one favorite, Jia describes this YSL scent as “sexy and luxurious.” (I mean, just like Jia herself!) While she says she prefers uncommon perfumes, she notes that this one is recognizable and explains that people can usually tell when she’s wearing it. “There’s no other perfume that I use this often,” she says and mentions that she’ll be buying another bottle as soon as it finishes.
2. Tom Ford Rose Prick
One of two rose-scented perfumes that she loves, this pick is mature and charming. Jia notes that this one is a unisex scent, and quite uncommon, so she gets a lot of questions and compliments each time she wears it. The matte strawberry milk color of the bottle is part of the appeal of this perfume, and the black detailing adds extra luxury. She also includes the body spray version of this scent as a must-have.
3. Soul Seasons Mellow Rose
“If I wanna look like a baby, that’s when I would wear this Mellow Rose perfume,” Jia says. In contrast to Tom Ford Rose Prick, Jia mentions that Mellow Rose is a flowery scent that’s much more youthful and fresh. The Soul Seasons scent is suited well for Jia’s fans and viewers since she knows most are younger than her.
4. Tom Ford Soleil Neige
This is a sweet but strong scent. Jia doesn’t recommend it for anyone who likes a lighter, fresher smell but if you like sweet scents with a touch of sexiness, this is for you. The bottle shape mimics the other Tom Ford perfumes in her collection, and when lined up together they make the perfect luxurious interior decor pieces for any vanity desk.
5. Miss Dior Eau De Parfum
Another recommendation for her younger viewers, Jia shares that with one spritz of this Miss Dior perfume “you transform into an innocent young lady.” (Whatever that means is open to interpretation.) She feels that the vibes of this perfume, from the cutesy bottle design to the scent itself, are soft and pure.
6. Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris
Well suited for spring and summer wear, Jia recommends this perfume for her viewers that prefer a more feminine fragrance. It’s candy-like, giving a much younger vibe in comparison to the sweetness of the aforementioned Tom Ford Soleil Neige. Sweet, without the sexy.
7. Chanel No. 5
Jia’s well-loved bottle of Chanel No. 5 in this video is nearly empty, with only a few drops left. (Not to fret, she has a new bottle on deck). The powdery, luxurious classic gives off princess vibes to her and has remained a favorite since she was in school. “Back then I thought I was a princess. I’m still a princess.”
8. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
A gift from a friend, this Chanel scent is very mature, and you either love it or hate it. With notes of orange and jasmine, the brand characterizes Coco Mademoiselle as a bold floral-woody fragrance. According to Jia, “they call this the perfume of women of the night.”
9. Byredo Mixed Emotions
Another gift in her collection, this scent is also unisex. The cylindrical bottle and dome-shaped lid make this one of the only contemporary designs in her assortment of perfumes, but she notes that it’s not her favorite. In terms of Byredo, Jia prefers the hand creams and hand washes from this Swedish luxury brand.
Single’s Inferno is available to stream in full on Netflix. If you want to see Jia herself talking about these fragrances (with a fun little vlog to boot), check out her video below:
